After the service, the Queen's coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault, which serves as the final resting place for many former kings and queens.
Prior to that, King Charles moved forward to drape the late monarch's coffin with the Grenadier Guards' Queen's Company Camp Color.
Then, the Lord Chamberlain broke his Wand of Office and placed it atop the coffin.
She was not, however, interred in the vault. A private funeral service for the royal family was scheduled to take place later on Monday evening.
The date that the Queen will move into the King George VI Memorial Chapel.
