Paul Haggis ready to start discussions in rape trial

In a civil rape case against director Paul Haggis, jury deliberations are scheduled to start on Thursday.

In a synopsis delivered to the jury on Wednesday, one of his attorneys, Ilan Mazel, said, "It's a horror picture by Paul Haggis, and only you can finish it."

According to Haggis, he is disputing the untrue assertion made by a publicist for the entertainment industry who allegedly developed feelings for the Oscar winner.

In her closing remarks, defence attorney Priya Choudhary pleaded with the jury to "free Paul from these bogus allegations," claiming that "this trial has totally devastated him."

Brest filed a lawsuit against Haggis in 2017; he never reported his allegations to the authorities. She is asking for specific compensation.
