"Scientology was brought up so frequently that it actually became the standard defence."

"There is no charge against Scientology, but you can't escape it," Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Müller said in his rebuttal argument.

Mueller said the women delayed reporting the allegations because church rules prohibited them from going to law enforcement and that if they told anyone else what happened, they would be excommunicated.

Mueller said he was afraid to testify because he had been harassed, threatened and stalked after reporting crimes.

Muller said, "They have to reach inside themselves and let out the pain and trauma that they have buried inside." "You might find some inconsistencies there."
