The reason for this is that the film is directed by one of the top directors in the field, Adrian Lyne, who returns in a way that only he could have done after a two-decade gap.
The plot follows that Vic has become disappointed that his wife Melinda has been sleeping with others. Their turbulent relationship appears to be open and unrestricted, but it soon turns into something more dangerous.
People close to them have an increasing suspicion that Vic might be looking to exact revenge on the men. A particularly frightening twist by Affleck defines the film.
There is plenty of zaniness and dark absurdity to be seen within Deep Water though that makes it more entertaining the longer it runs.
It has a surprising amount of suspense and drama, challenging the boundaries of logic on an unrestrained adventure that defies any assumptions you might think you have about it.
2: Songbird (2020)
A suspenseful and terrifying action-thriller, Songbird is a story about a group of people trapped in 2024 Los Angeles after a pandemic outbreak puts the city in lockdown for a prolonged time.
Alongside the brutal and sometimes violent action scenes, Songbird is full of shockingly grounded performances by several notable actors like Riverdale’s KJ Apa, Demi Moore, and Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus).
Adam Mason directed and co-wrote the script with Simon Boyes for this blend of graphic horror and an intense post-apocalyptic drama. Although the science-fiction elements veer closer to reality, Songbird is an intriguing and insightful allegory to watch.

Janelle Monae stars in this Jordan Peele-Esque social drama composed and directed by Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz.
