Avatar 2: The Way of Water The long-awaited sequel to James Cameron’s record-breaking Avatar Avatar is finally set to make its film debut. Although it may seem flimsy, the release date is confirmed and has held solid.
The title was announced alongside the trailer for the first teaser trailer, which was made available on the internet in May. While it was more a teaser for the visuals and less an introduction to the plot, it was viewed over 150 million times within the debut 24 hours.
“It is a bit crazy and the whole process is a bit erratic,” Cameron admitted to EW about his plans for the follow-up. “I say that if Avatar had not made such of a profit, we’d probably never have done this, since it’s a bit insane.”
Avatar 2 : When will Avatar the Way of Water be out in cinemas?
Its first Avatarfilm has grossed $2.84 billion globally during its run; the film premiered theatrically on December 18, 2009. In just 13 years, theatergoers can catch the sequel on December 16 and December 16, 2022.
The initial budget for the film was around $237 million; however, the sequel, Avatar The Way of Water, is expected to be about $250 million.
We do not know of an upcoming Disney+ debut date for The Way of Water; however, you can now stream Avataron through the service.
Avatar 2 Plot: Why Took It So Long to Complete?
The filming process was supposed to begin with Avatar 2 in April 2016. However, April passed by, and filming did not start. The following year, it was declared that motion-capture work in the movie would begin in August 2017. However, it started in September.
The announcement of the 4th Avatar film delayed all of them, and they were moved back yet again in the form of Avatar 2, scheduled for release in November 2017 (and the remaining ones for 2018 and possibly 2019). Cameron has blamed the “very complicated” writing process for the delays.
In January of 2017, Avatar 2 was again delayed. This was because it ran scary following Star Wars: The Last Jedi moved from May to the end of December in the same year.
The sequel was scheduled for release in December 2020 before Disney moved it to December 2021 after the Fox acquisition, bringing us up to today and to the COVID delay that affected the whole industry.
Through it all, Cameron has been completely unbothered by the possibility of delays. “It was seven years between The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, seven years between Alien and Aliens,” he said.
Avatar 2: What will Avatar the Way of Water be about?
Alongside the announcement of the title, We also received an initial synopsis of the movie that confirmed many of what we had suspected.
It states: “Jake Sully lives with his new family that he has formed in the world of Pandora. When a threat from the past returns to finish what was began, Jake must work with Neytiri and the Na’vi army race to defend their planet.”
It is also known that, even though there will be three sequels to this one, each film can be considered an independent film, with Landau declaring the following “the journey of the four films will result in an unconnected story.”
In the mix is the return of The RDA mining company to Pandora, forcing Jake to bring his children to the “perceived safe harbor” on the reef, where they encounter the Metkayina. To fully convey the significance of water in the story, Avatar 2 recorded its motion-capture sequences underwater.
We also know an individualized sign language developed specifically for the film from Baby Driver’s CJ Jones, an actor with a hearing impairment who was hired to create a “new Sign language for Navi.”
Avatar 2 title: Say Hello and welcome to Avatar the Way of Water
As I mentioned earlier, Avatar 2 is officially known as The Way of Water. The Way of Water.
Interestingly, in November of 2018, BBC News reported that the four scheduled Avatar sequels would be called Avatar: The Way of Water, Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar: The Tulkun Rider, and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa.
Cameron later admitted that they were possible titles, and since the first film was confirmed, it is possible that these could be the titles for the next three movies too.
